Madhusree Mukerjee

 

Madhusree Mukerjee's book The Land of the Naked People - encounters with stone age islanders, 2003, is reviewed by George Weber on this web-site.

Madhusree Mukerjee is an intensely private person who does not volunteer information about herself easily. We must respect this reserve here.

Dr. Mukherjee has a degree in physics and has served on the board of editors of the Scientific American.

With her wonderful book about the Andamanese people, The Land of the Naked People, was written with a Guggenheim fellowship. It fully justifies her status as a pioneer of Andamanese studies. Her book is among the earliest to be produced by a new generation of Indian writers that look at the Andamanese with entirely new eyes.
