Andaman Veteran Families

The Andaman Association keeps receiving occasional inquiries from individuals and families with historical Andamanese connections. Most would like to establish contact with other families of similar backgrounds and to share their experiences and family memories.

To us at the Andaman Association this has turned into a source of otherwise inaccessible historical knowledge as well as a delightful way to meet people from all walks of life. We do not, however, have the ressources to match up people looking for each other, nor are we competent to do so.

However, if your researches into your family history are successful and if you are lucky enough to find documents (notes, diaries, photographs, etc) and information that could be of historical interest, please do not hesitate to contact us. We might be able to give you additional background information on your finds. Such documents are rare since most local papers were destroyed during the Japanese occupation of the islands 1942-45.
